Aquatic Bodywork Foundation

This course is an ideal introduction for persons interested in beginning aquatic bodywork or adding depth and quality to their existing practice.
AQUATERNATIVES® foundation is an introduction to or refinement of 4 approaches (still base, travelling base, adaptive tools, and underwater) to aquatic bodywork. It is taught from the perspective of principles of the work and exercises to experience and learn those principles in the body rather than learning choreography.
AQUATERNATIVES® foundation is the first class in the AQUATHERICS® program. It lays the groundwork by beginning with safe productive alignment and movement of ones own body in water. Next we address the safety and alignment of the receiver while maintaining a neutral connection. Continuing the connection, we learn to move effectively from a still base, a travelling base, utilize adaptive tools, and finally continue our awareness and flow under the water with nose clips. We also learn the continuity and integration of a session. From this strong beginning, one can effectively continue with any direction of aquatic bodywork. For any anyone already pursuing aquatic bodywork at any level, foundation with more clarity, safety, depth and creativity adds to their work.

The instructor, Theri Thomas is a Holistic Health Pratctitioner who brings years of teaching experience in many related fields to this work. Her background in health and movement while working with clients developed the AQUATHERICS® program. Theri is a certified instructor of the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (WABA) for the AQUATHERICS® program, Watsu 1,2,3, adaptive, Healing Dance, Advanced Healing Dance, Above & Below and Shape & Space, WABA Assistant and Instructor Training classes. Theri lives in the USA and teaches world wide. We are delighted for her to come teach in Cairns for the second time!
